The freezing temps this week and the start of the snow season in Australia last weekend has me remembering my time working (ok, not really working) in the mountains for a few seasons. Many people do it, either travelling domesticaly to the mountains in Australia or venturing further afield to the Northern Hemisphere hoping to find fresh fluffy powder days and to meet apres ski a whole other nation of ski/board bums and party people.
All in all it’s a pretty cruisy life working as little as possible and attempting to get every fresh track morning on snow. Many of my skibum friends got hooked and completely forgot summers for years at a time, which my gills and surf addiction wouldn’t allow.
So, as we race towards a winter Olympics year next year to be held (in one of my favourite mountains and resorts) in Whistler and Vancouver I’m wondering are you skiing this year this side of the equator? If so where? what’s your favourite ski or board mountain in the southern hem Oz or NZ.
If you are lucky enough to get topside where do you venture? Europe, US, Canada, Japan or somewhere esle?
Got a special place for snow-time pace?

Nice pic! Very “Morning of the Earth”
If in Australia my fav is definitely top to bottom Thredbo over in NZ I’ve had some good on piste sessions in MT Hutt off piste heliskiing there in the Remarkables was pretty killer too.
Northern Hem? Gimme Whistler too although I’d rate Jackson Hole right up there.
